CUES 9, 10 and 11-speed groupsets are cross-compatible, and shifters, derailleurs, cassettes and chains can be used together across different bike setups.

I just saw that Shimano CUES is going to be replacing the lower end group sets from Altus to Deore as well as Sora to Tiagra with a focus on allowing compatibility with components between the ranges. As a long time Shimano Alivio/Sora/Altus user this intrigued me quite a bit.
