when i try to use the server on my laptop, when running server.jar i get "a java exception has occured" popup, despite having the same java version on both pcs, java 8, and it works on my desktop, how do i fix this ?
You can download it here https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#jdk20-windows If you're worried about having two different Java installations, then you can uninstall Java Version 8 and everything will work the same.
When you open the server, it uses the JAVA_HOME system variable (when you type a command starting with java, for example java -jar server.jar nogui), which uses the installed Java 8 version. That's why the client works, but not the server.

4 sty 2021 · The fastest way to fix this is to go to the Java Settings page on your NodePanel, select the correct jar file, and Save the setting. Alternatively, you can also rename the jar file to match what was is set in the NodePanel.
3 wrz 2022 · I tried everything, I tried to get this file via forge, installing a forge server on my computer but apparently we can't get the .jar & .json so easily anymore. I'm just frustated cause now I can only play vanilla with my friend after hours of modpack creation...
