i have a 1.19.4 server that i host from my pc when i try to use the server on my laptop, when running server.jar i get "a java exception has occured" popup, despite having the same java version on both pcs, java 8, and it works on my desktop, how do i fix this ?
Apparently, Java Version 8 (the one you linked to) won't work. The person in the video used JDK 16, but I downloaded JDK 20 and it seems to work well. You can download it here https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#jdk20-windows
When you open the server, it uses the JAVA_HOME system variable (when you type a command starting with java, for example java -jar server.jar nogui), which uses the installed Java 8 version. That's why the client works, but not the server.

Download minecraft_server.1.21.3.jar and run it with the following command: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.1.21.3.jar nogui
1 sie 2024 · It can be that the server.jar is corrupted in the first place or the server.jar failed uploading in the middle of the process. Go to Change Version in top menu. You can install a new server jar. We recommend to use PaperSpigot as it is more optimized than Spigot and Bukkit (also, bukkit will be disabled in the future)
