Winning Spiritual Battles. Exodus 17:8-16. Theme: Divine help in spiritual warfare. Point: The Lord is able to give you the victory in every spiritual battle you face. Outline: Depend on the power of God (Exo 17:9-12). The importance of prayer is seen in the effect it had on the battle (v. 11).
For God makes the victory of Israel to depend, not on the bravery of the soldiers and not on the skill of the commanding general, but upon a man who stands on the top of the hill with his hands lifted up to God in prayer and intercession [Exodus 17:11-13].
