The Serbian Cyrillic alphabet (Serbian: Српска ћирилица азбука, Srpska ćirilica azbuka, pronounced [sr̩̂pskaː tɕirǐlitsa]) is a variation of the Cyrillic script used to write the Serbian language that originated in medieval Serbia.
The Serbian Cyrillic alphabet was standardized by Vuk Karadžić in the 19th century, following a period of significant linguistic reform. It consists of 30 letters, each representing a single phoneme, which makes it a phonetic alphabet.
