23 cze 2017 · • When the current reaches zero, the SCR turns off. It should be noted that an SCR turn-off, for a current lower than the holding current, can only be seen for low load RMS currents (below approximately 1 A). For high currents, the presence of numerous excess carriers allows the SCR to conduct up to zero without break on the current shape.
24 lut 2012 · Turn OFF Process: Turning off an SCR requires the anode current to drop below a specific threshold and involves clearing internal carrier charges for proper shutdown. Load Impact on SCR: The type of load connected to an SCR—whether inductive or capacitive—affects how quickly the device’s voltage and current levels adjust during operation.
It should be mentioned that SCRs may sometimes be turned off by directly shorting their gate and cathode terminals together, or by "reverse-triggering" the gate with a negative voltage (in reference to the cathode), so that the lower transistor is forced into cutoff.
Zero-firing control switches the SCRs on and off – much like on/off control – but this method incorporates proportional control. With this control mode, the number of “on” or “off” AC cycles is varied to maintain as steady a voltage to the load as possible while turning the power on and off. Figure 2
Once the SCR has self-latched, it can only be turned off again by briefly reducing its anode current below a certain 'minimum holding current' value (typically, a few milliamps); in AC applications, turn-off occurs automatically at the zero-crossing point in each half-cycle.
16 sie 2024 · The SCR operates by switching between a non-conducting (off) state and a conducting (on) state. When a sufficient gate current is applied, the SCR switches to the conducting state, allowing current to flow from the anode to the cathode.
ZERO VOLTAGE SWITCHED. Zero voltage switched controls proportionally turn on and off each full cycle of the power line cycle. By varying the number of AC power line cycles, the SCR provides power to the heaters. With a variable time base, the optimum number of cycles turned on/off is achieved.
