Scouting for Food, the nation’s largest food drive, began as one Scout’s service project in St. Louis in 1985 and was adopted by the National Organization in 1988. Packs, troops, and crews all across America participate in this service project to collect food for those in need.

The 2024 Scouting for Food patch was designed by a Scout as part of the patch contest. Patches can be ordered online from the MCC Online Shop. Patches are $2 each plus tax and shipping. There is a limited quantity (2,000) available, so order early.
The goal in 2024 is to have every Scout unit in the Old North State Council participate in Scouting for Food. Even if your unit does not distribute door hangers, the Scouts and adults can still collect food from their chartered organization and deliver it to the nearest food pantry. Food collected helps those in need.
