This paper relates to scouting and recruitment in English men's professional football. The article points to possible gaps in the literature and offers suggestions for subsequent studies.
29 kwi 2021 · Based on a large sample of soccer scouts, we examine three issues that are important in the process of identifying talented soccer players: The age at which good performance predictions can be made, which attributes are relevant predictors, and how performance predictions are formed.

Based on insights from selection psychology and sport science, we postulate that researchers and practitioners should apply more actuarial judgment, and design more sample-tests to improve selection procedures in sports. In sports, performance prediction is critical for the selection of athletes.
