Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life (FAO).
Challenges to food security include sustainable agriculture, improving production while reducing chemicals, and ensuring safe, high quality food. Factors affecting food production are lack of land, declining farm labor, climate change, and high input costs.
