It's incredibly difficult housing market and we keep getting out bid for the homes we do like. I'm wary of Schumacher because it seems like a big builder and big builders don't have the best reputation.

I know Schumacher's work will essentially be Charleston subcontractor work. Does anyone have any home building experience with them? We are looking at building the "Carolina" plan on a lot we are buying.
My folks recently had a house built by Shumacher and had a great experience. Like any large Contractor, they subcontract out all of their work. For example, when it was time to frame, they had a group of Amish (or Mennonite) guys come out. The whole house was framed in 2 or 3 days.
