Boating - Title and Register a Watercraft or Outboard Motor in SC. In the state of South Carolina, the law requires all motorized boats and watercraft, except exempted vessels, sailboats, and all outboard motors five horsepower and greater to be titled.
If you purchased a boat and/or outboard motor in South Carolina with SC titles you must title and/or register it in your name with SCDNR. You will need to submit the following: Paid property tax receipt in your name for the coming year from your county of residence.
The watercraft/outboard motor application must be completed and signed in section F by all applicants. You will need to download this form from our website, print it out, fill it in and send it to SCDNR along with all other required documents.
