Swimming is not encouraged on Lower Sardine Lake as not to disrupt the fisherman. Boat rentals are available at Sardine Lake Resort, which sits right on Lower Sardine Lake.
Boating, fishing and swimming are available at nearby Sardine Lakes and Sand Pond. Sardine Lakes Resort offers boat rentals, lodging, and a restaurant. A large network of trails is available in the area, including Deer Lake and Tamarack Lakes Trails and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Within walking distance from both the resort and the campground, you will find the local swimming hole, also known as the sand pond. The sand pond is great for swimming, rafting, kayaking and catching frogs and water snakes.
There’s no shortage of swimming here: you’re welcome to splash in lakes, reservoirs, streams, rivers, and swimming holes under waterfalls! The Mushroom Hole is an excellent swimming hole that you jump right into.
Sardine Campground is located in a lodgepole pine forest with Sardine Lake nearby for fishing and swimming. This area offers an abundance of beautiful high mountain lakes surrounded by scenic rugged granitic ridges and glacially serrated rock outcroppings.
