Abstract. Background: The diagnosis of sarcoidosis is not standardized but is based on three major criteria: a compatible clinical presentation, finding nonnecrotizing granulomatous inflammation in one or more tissue samples, and the exclusion of alternative causes of granulomatous disease.
Most common clinical manifestations of sarcoidosis are non-specific generalized symptoms like fever, fatigue, myalgias, arthritis which is also seen in various autoimmune disease that need to be differentiated from sarcoidosis. It may manifest acutely as Lofgren syndrome (a triad of erythema nodosum, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, and arthritis).
