16 maj 2024 · Hello. If all else fails, try unplugging your iPad, removing it from the keyboard, and rebooting. Then let the iPad power up before returning it to the keyboard and / or plugging it in.

For anyone stumbling over this thread in a year or two : The combo touch works in conjunction with the light sensor on the front of the Ipad. In an environment the sensor deems „too bright“, the keyboard backlight will automatically turn off and will only be able to be put on „10%“ for the sake of battery life.
1 maj 2022 · Go to Settings > General > Keyboards > Hardware Keyboard > adjust the keyboard backlighting slider to a brighter position. Reboot the iPad Pro / Air with Magic Keyboard. Turn the iPad Air or iPad Pro off, then back on again.
It’s tied to the ambient light sensor — if the room is too bright, it won’t turn on and the slider greys out. If you have the white keyboard, the room has to basically be pitch black for the backlight to kick on (it’s set to a different ambient light level).

21 maj 2021 · I just bought the white ipad pro magic keyboard and when i connect it to my ipad it doesn't light up! i even tried restarting my ipad twice and even going into settings to manually turn on the brightness but it doesn't allow me to adjust the brightness. any ideas on how to fix this issue?
