26 maj 2022 · The consumption of packaged water in Ghana has grown significantly in recent years. By 2017, “sachet water”—machine-sealed 500ml plastic bags of drinking water—was consumed by 33% of Ghanaian households.
The emergence of sachet water as a cheaper option to bottled water in Ghana was recorded by Okogia (2007). The Ghana government entrusted into the hands of the Ghana Standards Boards (now Ghana Standards Authority) the authority to ensure safety and sanity of sachet drinking water for three reasons.
