PREPOSITIONS. Prepositions are used to show the relationship between items in a clause or sentence. They usually indicate place (on, into, above, at, on...), time (during, in, at, since, by, from X until Y...), space (across, along, among, between, through...) or direction (from, to, away, toward...).
