27 lip 2020 · Selling my Ruger Hawkeye 9.3x62. I am the original owner - still have the box. The rifle has been somewhat modified. The front and rear sights have been upgraded with NECG sights. The buttstock has been fitted with an Edwards recoil reducer and an oversize "Limbsaver" pad has been fitted.

23 sty 2014 · #1. I will pick up my new Sako 85 in 9.3x62 tomorrow. I plan to use it as my plains game rifle, and possibly Buffalo if the occasion should arrise. My question is, how does the 9.3 compare to larger calibers when it comes to penetration on Large animals like, Buffalo, Eland, Hippo, and even Elephant.

Description: Ruger Hawkeye African 9.3X62 Circassian walnut stock. I bought this rifle new in the box for a Nilgai Antelope hunt in south Texas (Kennedy Ranch). I killed the bull in the photo with one shot with this rifle using Barnes 286 gr. bullet at 225 yards.
The 9.3X62 is basically a European .35 Whelen. Its bullets are .008″ larger, at .366″, and its neck, a tad shorter, giving it a little more powder capacity. A tad more powerful than the Whelen, but not quite as powerful as the .375 H&H, the 9.3X62 sits happily between the two in the power spectrum.
