The School of Engineering (SoE) Advising Hub is the primary source of academic advising for first-year engineering students at Rensselaer. The SoE Hub is staffed by experienced advisors who offer academic support for all engineering majors for the first two semesters.
The SoE Hub advises engineering students during their first year at Rensselaer. Experienced staff advisors will guide you through your first three registrations, help you understand requirements for degree completion, and discuss adding or changing majors and/or minors.

Access to Rensselaer Self-Service requires a Rensselaer Identification Number (RIN) and password to log into the system. Students can register for classes, check registration status, add or drop classes, view weekly schedules and grades, request transcripts, and obtain a parking permit.
ALAC staff work closely with staff in each school’s “Advising Hub” and consult with faculty advisors as needed. Providing direct advising for students whose major is “undeclared general studies” or who are considering a change in their major.
