12 mar 2020 · Treatment for idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis consists of meticulous glucocorticoid therapy based on that for immunoglobulin G4-related disease, which is expected to be highly effective. Ureteral obstruction is usually managed with conservative procedures, such as ureteral stenting or percutaneous nephrostomy.
6 paź 2020 · The prognosis for retroperitoneal fibrosis is generally excellent with appropriate treatment, particularly as IgG4-related disease often responds well to glucocorticoid therapy. 10 lut 2021 · Idiopathic RPF is a rare disease that usually has a sub-acute onset. An early diagnosis is mandatory to avoid the development of chronic obstructive nephropathy. The therapeutic management is both surgical, to relieve the obstruction, and pharmaceutical, to induce and maintain remission of inflammation.
If positive, treatment for a patient with RPF can be targeted to the underlying immune problem. In other patients inflammatory or degenerative conditions of blood vessels (such as Primary Vasculitis or atherosclerosis respectively) can be a cause, or simply make matters worse.
