Trip Report for the Royal Hawaiian, Laguna Beach, CA TL/DR: Not sure if “slightly disappointing” or “just not ready”. We made the trip up from San Diego to Laguna Beach just to try the remodeled and reopened Royal Hawaiian.

My review follows. Ambiance: The place looks beautiful inside. One definitely feels transported. I was here before the remodel. It’s definitely over the top now with tiki upon tiki decor. They definitely gilded the lily with high end design while not going tiki-tacki. There were no special effects.
