The captain of the royal guard would likely be a Champion (CR 9) or perhaps a paladin, approximately as strong as the Blackguard (CR 8), both from Volo's Guide. The individual guards I would expect to be about CR 2, and with the ability to redirect attacks on an adjacent ally (the king) onto themselves.

The Basic premise of the character is a guardian for a king/queen that is defencive, someone who can throw themselves in front of an enemy if needs be, and perhaps lock them down while the king/queen escapes, but also be able to deal with an enemy when the situation deems nessessary.

All in all an elite guard who can protect others well but isn't just a wall but can dish out some damage too. Classes, archetypes, feat chains, weapons, armor, items... whatever you feel would suit this character idea, please let me know! I have a few ideas but there are SO many options in PF that I'd love to hear what others could cook up.
17 sie 2023 · A Fighter trained as a royal guard might lean toward the Defense style and Cavalier archetype, whereas a gladiator might choose the Great Weapon Fighting style and Champion archetype. Integrating these choices with the character’s narrative adds depth and authenticity to the roleplaying experience.
