It grew into a rich and powerful city during the next few hundred years. 2) By AD 117 the Roman Empire included the whole of Italy, all the lands around the Mediterranean and much of Europe, including England, Wales and parts of Scotland.
Year 3 and Year 4 children learn about the Roman Empire and its impact and legacy on Britain through a range of curricular approaches. Make busts and mosaics, build a chariot and an aqueduct, create a dance of an invasion, debate opposition or collaboration and grasp the extent of the empire.
The Roman Empire lasted from 700BC to AD476. The empire was huge and stretched across Europe, North Africa and Asia. Rome grew from a town into an enormous capital.
The history of the Roman Empire covers the history of ancient Rome from the traditional end of the Roman Republic in 27 BC until the abdication of Romulus Augustulus in AD 476 in the West, and the Fall of Constantinople in the East in 1453.
