Each map was created by Planet3arth, his builders or by someone in the community. Furthermore, maps also feature cliffs in the forms of man made structures to plain old rocks and mounds, where cliff-bound units can be placed in.

Maps are the battlefronts which the towers and zombies battle on, voted on at the start of each game or changed by the VIP server menu. Most maps are accessible in public servers, however, there are some maps which are available in private servers only, removed, or not added to the game.
Desert Outskirts is one of the three desert-themed maps in the game, the other two being Western and Dead End Valley. It is a medium length map with a noticeable lack of cliffs.
