1 lip 2018 · Today, Hildene continues to celebrate the Lincoln family, with tours of the house, complete with original furniture and a historic exhibit which includes one of Abraham Lincoln’s three existing stovepipe hats and his oval dressing mirror from the White House, along with other family heirlooms.
Robert Lincoln, the only child of Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln to survive to adulthood, built his ancestral home in 1905. It was only occupied by the Lincoln family until 1975. The formal garden boasts a thousand peony blooms, many from the original plants which date back to 1908.
