Robert and his wife, Mary, built this Georgian Revival mansion in 1905 in the scenic village of Manchester. It became home to only Lincoln descendants until 1975, longer than any other Lincoln residence.

Construction of this 24-room home began in 1903 and the Lincoln family moved in on June 20, 1905". According to the Hildene website, the home was built at a cost of $63,000.
Robert Lincoln was the President of Ekwanok Country Club from 1904 to 1926, making him the longest-serving president of the club to date. We loved being able to celebrate the shared history between Hildene and Ekwanok Country Club!
The Lincolns built Hildene as a summer home at the turn of the 20th century. Robert was the only child of Mary Todd Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln to survive to maturity. He first visited Manchester as a young man in the summer of 1864 when he came to the Equinox Hotel to meet up with his mother and his brother Tad.
