I just bought a new router, the Linksys WRT1900ACS, however, my internet is currently down. I would like to setup my router; access point name, password etc. Is there any way I can bypass the "Internet required" part of the setup process?
It does not have a battery, and can be used to set up a wireless network without an internet connection. Connect a switch to the ethernet port and you have a local wired/wireless network. I use this for when I'm away from home.
I am running a Netgear AirCard 340U USB 4G LTE modem plugged into a Dovado Tiny router in pass through mode. Lan port of the Tiny into my router 2nd wan port. Ran this setup on a Edgerouter PoE and now on my pfsense router, failover has worked flawless on both.
It is possible to access your router’s settings without an Internet connection, but you will need a direct connection with the router. Although you can set up the connection with the router wirelessly, it is easier and more reliable to use an Ethernet cable in case you need to change any of the wireless settings.
Attach an ethernet cable to the modem, and the other end to the "Internet" port on the back of the router. To setup the router properly, and secure the wireless network, you need to also run a cable from any of the 4 other ports on the back of the router into your PC.
