25 kwi 2011 · There are basic tests to check generator and voltage regulator operation: Test 1): Disconnect leads from generator. Connect one lead of a Voltmeter to the Main (or D) terminal and the other lead to Earth. Start the engine. Run the generator up to approx. 3,000 rpm. Result:
2 sie 2014 · Took all wires off of generator, measured "A" to positive thru a digital multi meter on battery, I get a bounce of voltage from .0234567 to around 6 volts, very quick readings, like millisecond changes, no constant voltage, with or without the "F" being grounded.
Is there a way to bench test a generator with a voltage regulator before installing it on my 48B. I bought a used complete generator with VR and was wondering what tests I could run. I even have an electric motor and 6 volt battery I could hook it up to on my bench.
25 wrz 2019 · To test a Ford generator and/or regulator on the car, simply ground the field terminal at either the generator or regulator with the engine turning about 1000 rpm and watch the amp gauge (do not disconnect any wires) .
If you can determine generator model (does it have a tag w/model number?), or generator series (by casting numbers on commutator & bearing head castings), then you could run a motoring draw test to see if it fits a 6v or 12v profile.

8 gru 2005 · A 2 terminal regulator is basically a cut out relay for use with a 3 brush generator. You could confirm this by looking under the cover and see if there is just 1 relay with normally open contacts.
