River Benue has two major hydrological water provinces in Nigeria - the Upper Benue and the Lower Benue. In Nigeria, River Benue is fed by tributaries from the two water provinces. Some of the major tributaries are Rivers Gongola, Kilunga, Mayo Ini, Mayo Belwa, Taraba, Donga, Ankwe and Katsina-Ala.
