Later, Blu and an injured Jewel fall out of the plane over the bay, and Blu manages to get his wings out just in time to pull up — skimming Jewel's back across the water — before they hit the surface.
Jewel is the one of the three main protagonists (alongside Manny and Lance Sterling) of Blue Sky Studios, serving as the deuteragonist of the Rio franchise. She is Blu's wife and Carla, Bia and Tiago's mother and the best friend of Nico, Pedro and Rafael (alongside Blu).
