From about:profiles you should be able to open the profile directory (there will be a button to show it in Explorer/Finder) and just copy the folder for the currently in use profile. Close and open Firefox a few time until it decides to reset like before, then check if the currently in use profile is the same as it was.

2 gru 2012 · It returns Firefox to the default settings that occur after a new install. It keeps the settings if I exit & restart Firefox without shutting down but if I shut down, it forgets everything. Every time I log out, shut down & restart.
refresh is going to reset your preferences and remove your extensions (look into this webpage if you want to refresh) and before you do it, backup your profile and after the refresh do (not) replace your new profile with the old one. then go with changing your settings, install your extensions and themes.
The refresh feature removes add-ons normally stored inside the Firefox profile folder (such as extensions and themes). Add-ons stored in other locations are not removed (although any modified preferences are reset).
Usually that removes the extensions, too, and moves the entire old profile folder to your system desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder. Assuming not... Extension data is stored with website data in your profile folder: [profile.folder]\storage\default.
