For anyone else who hates the mounted virtual drive, switch it from "sync" mode to "mirror" mode. It will no longer mount the drive virtually, instead sync all files locally to a folder on your hard drive just as it used to. In other words, the app preferences let you choose whether to "Sync" (File Stream) or "Mirror" (the old Backup & Sync).
