Part I. Introduction to an Applied Psychology of Religion and Spirituality. The second volume of this handbook shifts the focus from theory and research to practice. Although these chapters place their emphasis on applications of religion and spirituality, they too are informed by theory and research.
2 wrz 2011 · In introducing this Special Issue we first consider six ways of thinking about how culture and religion relate to each other: Religion may be part of culture, constitute culture, include and transcend culture, be influenced by culture, shape culture, or interact with culture in influencing cognitions, emotions, and actions.
Special attention is paid to relations between religion and culture: consideration of religion as culture or sub-culture; regulation of the equilibrium between absorption by, and rejection of, culture; cultural-religious differences versus cross-cultural invariants in psychological aspects of religion.
In doing so, this Special Issue of Mental Health, Religion & Culture provides a further forum for the review and extension of research on the relationship of psychological type theory to religiosity, with particular reference to culture.
