Male-pattern baldness is a polygenic trait that a large number of genes have been implicated in. The androgen receptor gene on the X chromosome is just one of these genes. Most of the other genes are on the autosomal chromosomes and can be passed on from either side of the family.
Persons with XXY chromosomes are (as wikipedia says) males with (sometimes) more feminine appearance, e.g. with feminine hips and gynaecomastia. At the same time XXY persons still have testosterone over estrogen prevalence and therefore have masculine attributes (facial and body hair, voice, etc.)
People with chromosome types X0, XXY and XYY are actually common. Even if you had the basic setting of two X chromosomes, making you a female, you could still have a fully functioning genitalia of a male. And hey, the X chromosome is kind of a weirdo.
