I’m now tempted by the BA Premium Plus Card and the welcome offer they have got on currently. It’s 60k Avios if you spend 5k within 3 months. I think this would be possible if I needed to spend that much.

To your post question, I'd say cards with annual fees are only worth it if you're pursuing flexible points redeemable for travel (which takes a lot of homework to know how to get good value out of), or for travel benefits like free checked bag (common on many airline cards) or lounge access.
