I just got mine out today after 3 years. I'm trying to determine whether my anxiety, depression, and loss of libido were more due to the nexplanon or due to the fact that it's a particularly busy and stressful time in my life right now. I'm 50/50 on whether I want to feel better after removing it.
Side effects. I did notice some weight gain during this time (approximately 20-30 pounds), but I was on other medication that also can cause weight gain, so it's a toss-up whether the implant was the problem.
The day I got my implant removed was also the day I got my copper IUD, so I can't say for sure the things I experienced were because of the implant or because of the IUD. The only symptom that I immediately connected to the implant was the acne I got on my shoulders a few days after the removal.
Any side effects that you may have had while on the implant will eventually go away after the implant is out. Unless you start another hormonal birth control method after removing the implant, your period will go back to how it was before you got Nexplanon.

I had Nexplanon for 2.5 years before replacing it with the copper IUD (Paragard). I felt awful when I had Nexplanon and couldn’t take the side effects anymore (mainly it deteriorated my mental health significantly, I bled for months and months without it stopping, weight gain, low libido etc.)
