Scourge is currently the most broken dps class and is mostly ranged, so no. Although most classes have melee weapons as op dps, or at least a melee weapon in one weaponset, There are quite a few decent ranged dps builds.
Currently Virtuoso (mesmer elite spec) and Scourge (necromancer elite spec) are the strongest ranged builds in the game. Not only that though, they're among the strongest builds in the entire game, often outperforming full-melee builds.
Jokes aside, luckily every class has both viable condi and viable power ranged options! If you look for builds I'd recommend looking for PvP/WvW guilds with guides and builds. Tho WvW and PvP are mostly different unless you look for 1v1 WvW skirmishes.
8 paź 2024 · I generally prefer ranged builds: it's good for exploration, a bit more response time against unfamiliar mechanics and it helps reduce the effects of 250 ping (namely running over and attacking enemies who are already dead).

16 sie 2023 · For specs, you’ve got Dragonhunter (DPS) for Guardian, any spec for Ranger, Deadeye (DPS) for Thief, Mechanist (DPS) for Engineer, Scourge (DPS) for Necromancer, any spec for both Mesmer and Elementalist. All of them are good, just depends on what you’re looking for (DPS, Support, Healing, etc).
