29 kwi 2024 · Red Oak Campground has sites that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. Horseshoe Campground has 10 pull-through sites, 20 covered horse stalls and five tent pads. Red Oak and Horseshoe campgrounds have a full-service bathhouse, and each site has a fire-ring grill, picnic table and a lantern hanger.

Red Oak Campground. The Red Oak Campground has 30 regular sites with water and electricity as well as a full service bathhouse. The campground, which is about 1.5 miles from the primitive campgrounds, is open annually during regular camping season from March 1 to first Monday in December. It is not on the river.
A gorgeous overlook of the James River, exceptional star gazing (designated a dark sky park), top notch birding with many varieties, and butterflies everywhere. We do not kayak, but there were many kayakers staying in the campground and that seems to be something that this park is known for too.
