I would say creation and tuning gum is better. After you RDA without normal summoning you can special summon creation and then normal summon gum. It gives your nova and atleast 1 protection from cards like karma cut or harpie bounce.

Now that I've actually tested the deck out, I've found that getting the 8 star dragon synchros are really easy, and that simply summoning Junk Synchron with an Effect Veiler, or Flamvell Guard, or Flamvell Baby in the graveyard is an instant RND.

Any Level 8 "Red Dragon Archfiend" + Chain Resonator + Any Level 3 Resonator: This deck contains two Level 12 Synchros. One requires the original Red Dragon Archfiend while another doesn't. The steps are the same. With a Level 8 Red Dragon Archfiend Synchro Monster, summon Chain Resonator.
It's almost every match a nailed on Red Nova and tuning gum gives it a one time target protection. Basically use the skill to get a Tuning Gum in hand. Summon crimson, then wildwind...syncro into RRD, use its effect to bring back crimson. Search a level 3 resonator from your deck.
