So I purchased some LED strip lights, the multicolored kind, because I wanted to see if they would work as a safelight. Turns out they do! However mine, as they were a cheap amazon product, started to flicker different colors and ruined several prints. Anybody else used LED lights as a safelight?
I use an LED bulb for safelight, but make sure you test for fogging anyway. While a red LED is most likely safe, a lot of “red” led bulbs are in fact white leds with red filters.
Leave the paper out under the red light for 15-20 minutes, then develop the paper. If it is pure white and you see nothing, the light is fairly safe. If you see a circle from the coin, the paper is fogged, not safe. Most darkrooms I've used, and most papers recommend an amber light.

9 sty 2010 · I've been using the same little red scoreboard light bulb as my "safelight" for over 5 years. I they cost less than $3 and don't fog any paper I've used. It's screwed into a socket dimmer and never gets adjusted.
