The Reaver Shark is a pickaxe that can mine any blocks weaker than Hellstone, Demonite or Crimtane ores. On it can also mine Hellstone. It is one the fastest pre-hardmode pickaxes for many materials. It is attained by fishing in the Ocean with a Reinforced Fishing Pole or better.

You can find enough gold to make sword and pick but I'd rather get the shark then use gold for armor in the new mode. Edit: I threw in lights bane cause lots of people rush the first gun and you may end up with that being your earliest good melee.
12 kwi 2017 · The Reaver Shark has 100% 59% Pickaxe Power and it can mine all pre-Hardmode ores (Hellstone included) and the first tier of Hardmode ores, Cobalt and Palladium (thanks to RBreaper and MysticSpanner for pointing that out!).
26 sie 2016 · Reaver Shark. If you've got this pickaxe, you can mine Obsidian and Hellstone, as well as any corrupt blocks you like. This gives you access to the Molten set, whenever you choose to get it. To simplify your hell-mining expedition, bring some Obsidian back topside and make Obsidian Skin potions.
