New Living Translation. The New Living Translation (NLT) starting out as an effort to revise The Living Bible but evolved into a new English translation from the Hebrew and Greek texts. Some stylistic influences of The Living Bible remained in the first edition (1996), but these are less evident in the second edition (2004, 2007).
The Contemporary English Version (CEV) is a translation of the Bible into English, published by the American Bible Society. While the CEV is sometimes mischaracterized as a revision of the Good News Bible (GNB), it is in fact a fresh translation, and designed for a lower reading level than the GNB.
