I’ve stayed at 32 different hotels/condos in Hawaii and Halekulani is so far my favorite on Oahu. I definitely like the ocean front rooms at the Sheraton Waikiki but I think the room is to small compared to Halekulani.
But after reading (probably too many) reviews, it seems like the rooms are getting dated and the rooms people think they’re paying for end up not being available. But researching a 5 star property like the Royal Hawaiian yielded similar results at a higher price point.
I'm having a tough time deciding on a hotel in Honolulu for my upcoming trip (June 20-24th). I've narrowed it down to a few options, but I'd love some input from those who have stayed in these hotels or have other recommendations!
The oceanfront Kahala Hotel and Resort is situated in Oahu’s posh Kahala neighborhood, one of the island’s priciest. It’s roughly a 17-minute drive to Waikiki and 20 minutes to central Honolulu from the hotel. There’s not much within walking distance.
