15 paź 2024 · In the group with hypothyroidism, increased RDW values were observed in 7 dogs (range: 14.4% to 16.8%), and of these, only 2 dogs had mild non-regenerative, microcytic, normochromic and moderate, normocytic, hyperchromic anemia, respectively.
Veterinarians use a mathematically calculated value, the RDW, to know when that is occurring. The actual measurement is of the volume or size of your pet’s red blood cells or its MCV. A high RDW means that there is too much variation in the size of your pet’s red blood cells.
8 mar 2023 · Red blood cell distribution width and RDW/Ca were significantly increased in 19 (28.1%) non-surviving dogs compared with 51 (71.9%) surviving dogs, and an RDW of >12.7% had good accuracy in predicting short-term death (i.e., dead within 14 days of admission).
Significantly higher RDW values were found in dogs with primary immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (P < 0.0001), immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (P < 0.0004), hyperadrenocorticism (P < 0.0001), hypothyroidism (P = 0.0220), hepatic vascular anomaly (P < 0.0001), pneumonia (P < 0.0001), chronic kidney disease (P = 0.0005), multi-centric lymphoma ...
17 paź 2016 · RDW. In healthy dogs, the median (interquartile range) RDW was 13.3% (12.3–13.7%). Seven of 50 (14%) dogs with MMVD, 9 of 32 (28.1%) dogs with PH-MMVD, and 8 of 26 (30.8%) dogs with precapillary PH had RDW greater than the upper reference limit of 14.5%.
The aims of the study were to compare RBC volume data obtained with two different analysers and by manual assessment of smears and to compare this data between dogs in various stages of heart failure secondary to degenerative mitral valvular (DMV) disease. The impact of diuretic administration on RBC morphology was also assessed.
Studies such as Neiger et al. (2002) in normal dogs with regenerative anemia and not based on the parameter of regenerative RDW found the values of 15.6 ± 1.35 for normal dogs, 15.3 ± 3.93 for regenerative anemia and 16.2 ± 2, 78 for dogs with non-regenerative anemia.
