The basic tennis rating system (NTRP) has been in place for a long time and is used by the USTA. There have been other ratings systems like UTR that have evolved over the years and aim to create a worldwide consistent set of ratings for players of all abilities.
A USTA rating is a numerical measure of tennis performance and varies between adults and juniors. A player’s USTA rating can range from 1.0 to 7.0. The higher the number, the higher the level. A player who is a USTA 4.5 is likely to hit the ball well and rarely double-fault.
