Pricing Guide. Potions, poisons and other products have set prices based on their rarity. This cost is paid up front once the production is started. The price of ingredients used is subtracted from this price. The price of the product depends on its rarity and can be found in the table below.
To determine the price of spell levels, I came up with a base cost of 30 gp - this would be the cost of a spell scroll for a cantrip (plus some rarity tax and attunement tax, but see Part 1 for information on that). That base cost is then multiplied by the sum of each spell level + 1.
I applied a formula to the "Sane" price guide that has floated around for years to try and fit it a bit better to prices people would expect, tweaked major outliers, and then extrapolated prices for items that have released since the DMG.
