This publication provides guidance on the design of steel beams subject to torsion. It owes much to the earlier SCI publication P057 Design of members subject to combined bending and torsion prepared by Nethercot, Salter and Malik and published in 1989.

The outer rounding radius ro and the inner rounding radius r i are nominal values to be used in calculations and they are specified in the design standards EN 10210-2 §A.3 for hot finished structural hollow sections and EN 10219-2 §B.3 for cold formed structural hollow sections.
