The singer's daughter, Marina DeBarge, confirmed to TMZ that he battled kidney and liver failure over the years and contracted Covid-19 earlier this year, but that he'd recovered from the virus and never complained about the pain.
A bass guitarist, he will be remembered for his tenure with the R&B and Funk group Switch. Formed in Mansfield, Ohio during the mid 1970s, they initially were signed under the RCA label which resulted in their debut album White Heat (1975).
