The M45 Quadmount was a towed anti-aircraft gun consisting of four .50 caliber M2 Browning machine guns mounted in pairs on either side of an armored open-top gunner's compartment with electrical laying.

By that point, planes were much faster, so Quadmounts relied on their overwhelming amount of firepower, which is one of the keys to surviving an ambush. With 800 rounds of .50 BMG, these guns were hell on wheels.
