I need to convert a bunch of files to utf-8 in Python, and I have trouble with the "converting the file" part. I'd like to do the equivalent of: iconv -t utf-8 $file > converted/$file # this is shell code. Thanks!

12 gru 2019 · Summary: Set the PYTHONUTF8=1 environment variable. On macOS and Linux, UTF-8 is the standard encoding already. But Windows still uses legacy encoding (e.g. cp1252, cp932, etc...) as system encoding. Python works very well about file names and console IO (e.g. use ~W APIs).
