Prince Pyotr Ivanovich Bagration [nb 1] (10 July 1765 – 24 September 1812) was a Russian general and prince of Georgian origin, prominent during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Bagration, a member of the Bagrationi dynasty, was born in Kizlyar. [2]
Twenty-two Russian generals were killed or wounded, including Prince Bagration, who died of his wounds on 24 September. [2] Historian Gwynne Dyer compared the carnage at Borodino to "a fully-loaded 747 crashing, with no survivors, every 5 minutes for eight hours".
20 wrz 2024 · On Sept. 7, 1812, at the Battle of Borodino, near Moscow, Bagration commanded the left wing of the Russian forces and was fatally wounded. A monument was erected in his honour by Emperor Nicholas I on the battlefield of Borodino.
3 lip 2020 · To the regret of the whole Russian army, Bagration died three weeks later, having been evacuated beyond Moscow to the village of Sima in Vladimir Province. In 1839 his body was transferred to the Borodino battlefield and reinterred at the foot of newly built main monument.
